Overview
When returning to the Auto Shop from a run, dialogue from Oppy, Tobias or Francis may play. The type of dialogue depends on whether the run was successful or a failure, what mission the player is up to and may also depend on the conditions encountered in the Zone during the run.
Mission specific return dialogue is recorded in Transmissions.
Oppy
For most of the game's storyline, Oppy's dialogue will trigger when returning to the Auto Shop. Her dialogue will not play between completing The Mid-Zone Crossing mission and The Visions mission due to being upset with Tobias and Francis for hijacking "her mission" and tapping into her frequency.Reference: You Did It After completing The Visions mission her dialogue will return to triggering after completing a run. Her dialogue will no longer play after completing the mission The End of the Road due to her choosing to leave the Zone for good.

---|---|
Aw, cute. I think the radiation has a crush on you, the way it chases you around. | Die due to radiation |
Do be careful around those Tourists. They always try to hitchhike during the most inopportune moment. | TBD |
Getting cozy with those helpful Anomalies, aren't you? Just don't go about inviting them back to the Auto Shop. | TBD |
Give the Bunnies a chance. They're kind of cute once you get over the whole life-threatening part. | TBD |
I don't say this often. But no, I don't know where those Titan's Bones come from, and I don't want to. | TBD |
Those Titan's Bones. They really make you wonder what's going on beneath the surface, don't they? | TBD |
In case I wasn't clear, you should avoid the spiky objects. | TBD |
My goodness, where are the Zone's manners? Sometimes she spits up a surprise or two, and it results in a horrible, horrible death. But she doesn't mean it that way, you know? | TBD |
Not a fan of the Bunnies, are we? | TBD |
Nothing like a good Tourist Trap to keep things interesting, huh? | TBD |
Repeat after me: avoid the Wriggling Wrecks. | TBD |
So, you've met some of the good Anomalies out there. Not all of them are bad guys. Just most of them. | TBD |
The Crawlers. Vicious little buggers. | TBD |
The Honeypot strikes again. She's good at what she does. | TBD |
The Swarmers are hard to resist, I know. Or is it them that can't resist you? | TBD |
The Swarmers just love you, don't they? | TBD |
The Tourists are bad enough, but those Tour Buses? Those'll ruin your day. | TBD |
There was a mechanic long ago who used to breed those Beating Heart Anomalies. He put them to work in his Auto Shop. It worked, for some time, until they ate him alive. But anyway, have fun with those. | TBD |
Tourists. They ruin everything, don't they? | TBD |
Usually, when things are spiky, you shouldn't drive over them. | TBD |
We call those things Tourists. But I've always preferred Murderquins. | TBD |
Couldn't resist that Honeypot, huh? I don't blame you. | TBD |
Yes, sometimes it does feel like the radiation follows you around, doesn't it? | Die due to radiation |
Ah, hurricane-force winds without the hurricanes. So much fun. | TBD |
Are you going to let the Zone push you around like that? | TBD |
Don't be such a pushover. When the Zone shoves you around, you give it a shove right back. | TBD |
If I could figure out why the gravity gets so wobbly around these parts, the things I could invent, I tell you. | TBD |
Sometimes it's a stiff breeze off the Pacific Ocean. Other times, it's the Zone throwing another one of her famous tantrums. | TBD |
The Zone could've had normal rain, but how much fun would that have been? | TBD |
The Zone really outdid itself with the acid storms, don't you think? I mean, the Pacific Northwest is famous for its rain, so why not ratchet it up a little? | TBD |
Think of this way: if you're going to die from lightning, it might as well be fun lightning. | TBD |
We love a good gravity snare, do we not? | TBD |
The answer is no. We couldn't just have normal lightning bolts here. No, we had to have localized chain lighting balls that terrorize the very ground you walk on. | TBD |
Another day, another bobblehead. | TBD |
Another hood ornament for the collection? | TBD |
Of all the incredibly useful materials out there, you decide to bring back paint. | TBD |
There's not a paint color in the world that'll hide what you're doing to that poor car. But you're welcome to try, by all means. | TBD |
You can slap on as many decals as you want. It's not going to make you drive any better. | TBD |
You found another bobblehead? Might as well collect them all, I suppose. | TBD |
Hell of a place, the Deep Zone. Not one to be taken lightly. | TBD |
One good thing about LIM warping the Peninsula, it got rid of all the mosquitoes. Then again, it was bit of a crapshoot. Either we killed them all or they grew ten times in size. | TBD |
The Deep Zone. Not a journey I’ll ever make again in this lifetime, but still. It would be nice to see home again. | TBD |
Careful sticking your hand down those pneumatic tubes. Sometimes they get hungry. | TBD |
Collecting Quirks out there, are we? I guess that's one way to entertain yourself. | TBD |
Did you drive into a storm? Do you enjoy feeling your bones separated from your body? | TBD |
The more Quirks, the merrier, huh? | TBD |
Those pneumatic tubes. Great little mail system. Not ideal indoors though; the Anomalies do love to make nests out of them. | TBD |
You spend any longer in the storm, you’ll soon learn what it’s like to have every bone separated from your body. | TBD |
Well, well. You got back with all four doors intact. I suppose we'll call that progress. | TBD |
A little elbow grease and that car’ll be as good as new. | TBD |
Don't even think about bringing an Anomaly back to the garage. Someone tried to start a petting zoo once and, well, let's just say we don't go to that part of the Zone anymore. | TBD |
It's a really good thing I never kept any mirrors in that garage. Better not to know if you've been teleported with your head on backwards. | Return to the Auto Shop, either by dying or through a gateway. |
Oh, there you are. And here I was enjoying all that peace and quiet. | TBD |
You know, interesting thing about those Anchor plugs. They use LIM technology to stake down pockets of stability in an area. Basically, they delay how quickly you're turned into Swiss cheese out there. | TBD |
You know, once upon a time, I thought I'd be able to solve the instability issue. The solution was within my grasp. But that's ancient history now. | Die in the Zone (Note: Further testing needed to see if this line can play after a successful run) |
You're playing chicken with the Zone. This won't work in your favor. But by all means, give it a shot. | TBD |
I don't know if I'd call that dumb luck or sheer stupidity, but you made it. So good job, I guess. | TBD |
Alright, Driver. Stop showing off before you get yourself killed. | TBD |
Limping past the finish line, aren’t you? Maybe you ought to give that car a face lift before heading back out. | TBD |
Cutting it awfully close there. But you made it. | TBD |
Do be nice to that car, won't you? Before it decides to stop saving you from yourself. | TBD |
Looks like you're getting the hang of the Deep Zone. | TBD |
How's the Deep Zone looking these days? It used to be the most beautiful part of the Peninsula. | TBD |
How are the swamps of the Mid-Zone treating you? | TBD |
First the forest, and now the swamp. Quite the Zone tour. | TBD |
That was a long trek. Make sure to wash all that Zone goo off. | TBD |
Hell of a journey there. Hope you brought back some goodies. | TBD |
Quite a collection you've brought back. Anything fun to tinker with? | TBD |
Nice haul. Put it to good use. | TBD |
Nice work making use of those Stabilizers. I love a good shortcut. | TBD |
A few more drives like that and maybe you'll stop dying so much, huh? | TBD |
You better not be tracking all that Zone goo into my garage. | TBD |
What do you know? You made it back. Wasn’t too sure for a moment there. | TBD |
We never came up with a way to harness those storms. Imagine if we could. The sheer power of those things. | TBD |
The Remnant. We're so close to figuring it all out. | TBD |
That was quite the ride. Enjoy yourself out there? | TBD |
Quite the road trip there. What did you find? | TBD |
Oh, you’re back from your joyride. Drive off any cliffs this time? | TBD |
No, no. That thing you saw was not Bigfoot. Never was, never will be. Don't let Tobias and Francis fill your head with that nonsense. | TBD |
Nice work out there. | TBD |
Never a dull moment in the Zone, huh? | Return to the Auto Shop, either by dying or through a gateway. |
My my, what's this? Are you learning a thing or two? My dear newbie, there's hope for you yet. | TBD |
Looks like you're getting the hang of things. Well, once you get that unfortunate driving under control. | TBD |
How'd the Zone treat you this time? | TBD |
I'm marginally impressed. Not bad, newbie. | TBD |
Have a nice field trip? | TBD |
Good. You're back safe. | TBD |
ARDA was not a fan of my Gateway theory. I can’t imagine why. It’s just shooting things up into the oscillosphere and back. No big deal. | TBD |
You sure took your time out there. | TBD |
All 10 fingers and toes accounted for? Don't just count them. You've got to check and make sure you didn't bring back any toe-hands. | TBD |
Allen would've gotten a kick out of that car. | TBD |
Aren’t my Gateways beautiful? I’ll never get sick of them. | TBD |
Back already? | TBD |
Bring back anything good this time? | TBD |
Find anything useful out there? | TBD |
You made it. Color me surprised. | TBD |
...the car was last pinged at- you’re back at the garage? How could that be? Oh. The car got you back somehow? Very, very interesting. I’ll have to observe this further. | Line plays after the player's first death in the save. |
The civilians called those monstrosities storms. In actuality, they’re the transition between the stability that keeps you alive, and the instability that morphs your brain into a tree faster than you can blink. Avoid it, at all costs. | Die in an instability storm. |
I know those storms look awfully pretty, but you understand by now that they mean certain death, right? | Die in an instability storm. |
Do those storms look fun to you? Because they're not. I assure you. | Die in an instability storm. |
I'm sorry, was I unclear? About how storms will always, always kill you? | Die in an instability storm. |
No, no, you should try to avoid storms. Not barrel straight into them. Kids these days. | Die in an instability storm. |
You sure you’ve got the right equipment to survive out there? I’d give that car another once-over, if I were you. | TBD |
You have driven a car before, haven't you? Just curious. | TBD |
Tune up that car and get back out there. | TBD |
Let's try keeping the car in one piece next time, shall we? | Die and return with the car in the red on the damage indicator (Note: Further testing needed to see if this line plays on a successful run with car damage indicator in the red.) |
Just because the car’s protecting you doesn’t mean you should drive like that. | TBD |
How that car's still running in the Zone's beyond me. Especially with the way you drive it. | Die and return with the car in the red on the damage indicator (Note: Further testing needed to see if this line plays on a successful run with car damage indicator in the red.) |
Maybe that car of yours needs some work. An upgrade or facelift, maybe. | TBD |
No matter how poorly you treat that car, it brings you back over and over again. Fascinating. | Die and return with the car in the red on the damage indicator (Note: Further testing needed to see if this line plays on a successful run with car damage indicator in the red.) |
This is an exclusion zone, not a race track. Control yourself out there. | Reach a specific top speed during a run. Speed threshold TBD. (In editor Sunlight Sagittarius' testing 96mph was the top speed for the run where this line played upon return) |
I don’t want to assume anything, but you do know that tires are necessary, right? | TBD |
Fun fact: wheels have been used for over 4,000 years. But apparently you think you're above all that and don't need them? | TBD |
Apparently you forgot that car runs on gas, not hopes and dreams. | TBD |
Running on fumes there, newbie. | TBD |
You didn’t expect the Deep Zone to let you off easy, did you? | TBD |
Sink or swim, newbie. | TBD |
You trying to get a tan or something? Stay out of that radiation. | Die due to radiation |
You ever consider not standing around in the radiation? Just a thought. | Die due to radiation |
I know the Bunnies look cute, but stop trying to pet them. | TBD |
Beware the Bunnies. It's a lesson we all learn the hard way. | TBD |
Don’t worry, newbie. The Bunnies have taken a bite out of the best of us. | TBD |
Dying from radiation and Anomalies isn't enough for you? Now you're testing falling to your death too? | TBD |
Yes, yes, gravity is the same here as the outside world. I admire the experimentation, though. | TBD |
Felt like taking a stroll, did you? Never a good idea in the Zone. | Die outside of and away from the car |
A bit accident-prone, aren't we? | Die, no special requirements needed |
You’re not giving up already, are you? | Die, no special requirements needed |
You're practically roadkill out there. Get it together. | Die, no special requirements needed |
You’re certainly testing the limits of that car. And my patience. | TBD |
You tuning up that car between drives? | Die, no special requirements needed |
You really tried there. | Die, no special requirements needed |
You do realize there's no hospitals here, right? So you should try to avoid dying out there. | Die, no special requirements needed |
When it comes to the Zone and her moods, we all learn the hard way. | Die, no special requirements needed |
Try, try again. | Die, no special requirements needed |
Thought you would've stopped doing that by now. Guess I expected too much. | Die, no special requirements needed |
The Zone's not likely to let up on you. Might be worth upgrading some parts on that car. | Die, no special requirements needed |
That one's going on your driving record. | Die, no special requirements needed |
That Zone's giving you hell. Better armor up that car to match. | Die, no special requirements needed |
Technically, that is the quickest way to get back. | Die, no special requirements needed |
Take care of that car. You need it. | TBD |
Let's get through this with a little more care, shall we? | TBD |
I really hope you didn't drive like that in the outside world. | Die, no special requirements needed |
I have to ask. You did have a driver’s license before this, right? | Die, no special requirements needed |
I admire a good death wish, but maybe, just maybe, try not to die. | TBD |
I admire a good experiment, really, I do. But maybe don't try that again? | Die, no special requirements needed |
Getting dangerous out there. | TBD |
Am I going to have to put some training wheels on for you? | Die, no special requirements needed |
Are you loading up on emergency supplies for those drives? It's rough out there. | Die, no special requirements needed |
Are you trying to not die? Or are you- nevermind. | Die, no special requirements needed |
Are you trying to survive here? Sometimes I just can't tell. | Die, no special requirements needed |
Bit of a daredevil, are we? You should know better than to test the Zone's limits. | Die, no special requirements needed |
Careful on those roads. We've already lost too much. | TBD |
Consider, perhaps, you know, staying alive next time? | Die, no special requirements needed |
Don't take it personally. The Zone tries to kill us all every few days. Just a way of life here. | Die, no special requirements needed |
Don't test the Zone. She'll always win. | Die, no special requirements needed |
Drive smarter, not faster. | Die, no special requirements needed |
Everything holding up over there? | TBD |
Fix whatever you broke and try again. | Die, no special requirements needed |
Got to learn how to navigate the Zone one way or another. Get back out there. | Die, no special requirements needed |
Not the field trip you were hoping for, I assume? | Die, no special requirements needed |
Not the peaceful Sunday drive you were hoping for, huh? | Die, no special requirements needed |
Not to be a backseat driver, but that wasn’t your finest hour. | Die, no special requirements needed |
Okay, in case I wasn't clear before, you should try to survive while you're out there. | Die, no special requirements needed |
That was certainly an attempt. | Die, no special requirements needed |
Getting a little cheeky out there, aren’t we? | Die, no special requirements needed |
You'll be dealing with far worse in the Zone. Better get used to it. | Die, no special requirements needed |
Tobias
Tobias has the least amount of return dialogue lines out of the three characters. They can only be triggered between completing The Mid-Zone Crossing mission and The Visions mission and during The Deep Zone Crossing mission.

Hey Driver, you alright? | TBD |
You alright there? It's wild out there in the Zone, huh? | TBD |
That car is one heck of a safety net. | TBD |
I just- I’m sorry, I got to know, what does it feel like when the car magically zaps you back to the garage? That’s got to be wild. | TBD |
That Gateway is so damn cool. | TBD |
You seeing these readings, Francis? Gateway opens like DABLABLA and the car goes POW, the sensors go BLBLBL, the oscillosphere, my favorite part- | TBD |
Just you, me, and Francis. Peaceful, ain’t it? | TBD |
Francis
Francis has some return dialogue lines that play throughout the story however most of his lines are only able to be triggered after completing the mission The End of the Road.

I know you're used to the radiation by now, but you should still avoid it where you can. | TBD |
Oh, you do not want to hear the theories about where the Tourists come from. You won't sleep for weeks. | TBD |
One of these days, I should tell you about the time Tobias found a Bunny nest and tried to raise them in our backyard. It didn't end well. | TBD |
Some people say those helpful Anomalies didn't start as Anomalies. Rather, they're people who got lost in the Zone, looking for a way back home. | TBD |
The Bunnies are always up to something, aren't they? | TBD |
Tourists. Tourists everywhere. | TBD |
You found the Honeypot? That's a lucky day. Those haunted cars are my favorite. | TBD |
You know, they say if you stand in the radiation long enough, you'll start to hear strange voices. And those voices say, "what are you doing standing in the radiation, get the heck out of there!" | TBD |
Got a bit windy out there, didn't it? | TBD |
That was no ordinary lightning that you saw out there. It's something else entirely. | TBD |
The great thing about acid storms? You'll know immediately where you've sprung a leak. | TBD |
I'm really hoping there's a Quirk out there that makes your car talk. Aren't you just dying to hear what it would say? | TBD |
Nice Quirk collection. Are you going for a record there? | TBD |
Any Gumberoo sightings out there? Or any fresh Sasquatch prints? Keep your eye out. Let me know! | TBD |
Never thought I’d say it, but I kind of wish Oppy was here to see this. Don’t you? | TBD |
Oh, you’re back! Don’t mind me. I'm just tinkering with a few things over here. | TBD |
You're back! Thank goodness. | TBD |
You’re free of the Remnant now, but you should still be careful. We have no idea what else is out there. | TBD |
You made it. You’re really putting that car through the wringer. But it’s tough. It can take it. | TBD |
Woah! Wow. That was close. | TBD |
That was a close one. | TBD |
That car's in bad shape. What were you doing out there? | TBD |
Shouldn't you be a little nicer to that car? It's done so much for you. | TBD |
You were gone for awhile. It got so quiet around here. | TBD |
You collected a lot out there. | TBD |
That was a long trip. You’re really getting the hang of the Zone. | TBD |
Hey, what did you find out there? Bet it's all the good stuff. | TBD |
Gosh. What a ride. I wish Tobias was here to see it. | TBD |
You're a regular pro out there now. | TBD |
You made it! I was getting worried. | TBD |
Welcome home. How was the drive? | TBD |
Welcome back. | TBD |
Those Gateways. They're terrifying, right? | TBD |
Soon enough, you'll know the Zone like the back of your hand. | TBD |
That Gateway still scares me. I don’t know how you do it. | TBD |
Someday, you've got to teach me how you do all that. | TBD |
Okay, okay! What’s next? | TBD |
Look at you! Taming the Zone now, are you? I like it. | TBD |
I’ll never get used to those storms. | TBD |
Driver, what happened to avoiding those storms? Not going into them. | TBD |
You’ve got to watch out for those Anomalies. | TBD |
Don't try making friends with the Anomalies. It doesn't work out too well. Believe me, Tobias and I tried. Several times. | TBD |
I have to ask. What does the inside of a storm look like? I mean, besides terribly painful? | TBD |
A bad fuse, maybe? Or hungry Bunny? | TBD |
There you are! Gosh, you had me worried. | TBD |
The car brought you back again. Thank goodness. | TBD |
If Oppy knew what you were doing out there, she’d give you an earful. | TBD |
I find the Zone to be a fickle mistress. She does exactly what she wants, and she doesn’t care about whether you survive her latest tantrum. | TBD |
Ouch! You alright? | TBD |
That's going to leave a mark. | TBD |
Are you okay? That had to hurt. | TBD |
Did the Sasquatch get you? Be careful. I know they're out there. | TBD |
Okay, I know that car’s gone through a lot. But maybe you should be more careful | TBD |
Having trouble? Maybe your car could use a tune-up? | TBD |
Nearly lost you out there. Oppy will never let me hear the end of it if I do. | TBD |
Wow! It got rough on that road. | TBD |
Hey. You okay? Be careful out there. | TBD |
