Synopsis
Instability storms are the collapse of stability within a Junction. They have two stages to them that are displayed on the ARC Device and are preceded by a storm warning siren if caused by growing instability.
Stage 1
Stage one of the storm is displayed on the ARC Device as a yellow wall closing in across the Junction. Areas covered by the yellow front have 5.0k strength ambient radiation that causes damage to both the Driver and the car and have yellow tinted lighting in the area. Anomalies may also start spawning in the area.
Stage 2
Stage two of the storm is displayed on the ARC Device as a red wall closing in across the Junction after the yellow wall has covered it. It wall also be visible as a wall of red swirling light as it covers the Junction. The red front may start to move in before the yellow has completely covered the Junction depending on gameplay settings. Areas covered by the red front has 10.0k strength ambient radiation that causes damage to both the Driver and the car. Flashes of blue and orange lightning will occur spontaneously within areas covered by the red front and there may be an increase in Anomalies spawning in the area.
Causes
There are two causes of an instability storm. Growing instability and summoning a gateway.
Growing Instability
Instability will increase the longer the Driver spends in any single Junction. Spending too long in a Junction will result in an instability storm which will be preceded by a storm warning siren. Collecting Anchors speeds up the rate at which the instability approaches.
Gateway
Summoning a gateway will result in the immediate collapse of stability in the region, whether via the ARC device or by activating a Zone Stabilizer. There is no storm warning siren if the storm is caused by a gateway.
Conditions
There are several Junction Conditions that impact the behavior of instability storms if applied to a Junction.
