PRIVATE FIELD NOTES, Dr. Marianne Vasquez, December 2nd, 1970.
We’re now seeing increasingly localized, specific distortions across the Zone, manifesting as a wealth of what I can only describe as unexplainable, reality-breaking violations of the laws of physics. What began with small scale weather anomalies has expanded to include geological disruption, gravitational distortion, and now what appears to be extremely localized refraction, with substantial radial distortion.
They manifest ex nihilo at all times of day and night, always affect only a very small and very specific area, and demonstrate light-bending properties that suggest the presence of incredibly powerful gravitational forces. But do these apparent gravitational forces exert even the slightest influence on anything else? Generally, no. Unlike our surging stones and floating debris, I believe there’s something a little different going on here. While gravimetric readings once again record nothing whatsoever, several researchers working around and inside of these distortions have reported a feeling of menace, and malfunction or even destruction of equipment. I’ve advised my team to pause all further field research until we’ve completed a thorough data analysis.
