Artess: Clarification about continuous energy drain that was added in a patch. There is a lot of outdated information on the internet about old shield mechanics and I feel like it is worth highlighting this major change.

Use
Upon activation this device will form a shield around the car that will remain active until deactivated. It uses energy upon activation and whenever absorbing a hit (0.125kW per hit), as well as continuosly while active (0.35 kW per second). The shield protects against anomalies that attach to the car such as Abductors and Bunnies, and absorbs about 50% of physical damage (impact, piercing, and explosion), however it does not protect against acid, electricity, or radiation damage. Activating two LIM Shields at once improves this damage reduction to 90%.

The passive protection range against attaching anomalies is slightly smaller than that of the LIMpulse emitter, so Bunnies might still stick to roof attachments. Toggling the shield however has a similar effect to that of the LIMpulse emitter and can knock such bunnies off the roof.

Unlike most other blueprints, which are obtained through the Fabrication Station, the blueprint for this device is acquired via plot progression in the mission The Deep Zone Crossing.

History
Originally the shield only consumed energy when activated and on taking hits, which easily allowed to have it active permanently. This was changed in patch 1.11 (October 2025), making the shield consume energy continuously but reducing the drain when taking hits by 50% compared to the old value.
